Crohn's Disease Treatment
About 1.4 million Americans suffer from Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Many IBD cases can be linked back to Crohn’s disease.
Crohn’s is an aggressive and life-altering disease characterized by inflammation of the lining of the GI (gastrointestinal, or digestive) tract, abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss, and malnutrition.
When untreated or poorly managed, people with Crohn’s can experience serious complications from malabsorption of important nutrients.
At the Holistic Wellness Center, we are particularly passionate about helping people with Crohn’s because one of our practitioners has this condition.
Treating Crohn's Disease
As Crohn’s is an autoimmune disease, people who suffer from it are more likely to develop additional autoimmunity in other areas of their body. The conventional Crohn's Disease treatment approach tells people that taking powerful pharmaceuticals, minimizing stress, and watching what they eat is enough - but often, it’s not.
About 75% of people with poorly managed Crohn’s disease will need bowel surgery. At the Holistic Wellness Center of the Carolinas, we know that it is very important to address Crohn’s at the level of cause.
While autoimmunity cannot be reversed, the immune system can be balanced, and Crohn’s can be put into remission. There are several factors that trigger Crohn’s: genetics, diet, stress, and exposure to certain viruses and infections.
When we work with a patient who is suffering from Crohn’s, we look at these underlying factors to treat them as a whole person. In addition to repairing a patient’s gut health, our Crohn's Disease treatment look at factors such as hormonal imbalances, chronic inflammation, food sensitivities, underlying infections, and more.
We also look for other autoimmune disorders, as someone with one AM disorder has a high chance of having or developing another one.
Symptoms of Crohn's Disease
- Diarrhea and loose stool
- Intestinal cramping and abdominal pain
- Nausea and vomiting

Other symptoms related to IBD can include kidney stones, gallstones, hemorrhoids, anal skin tags, joint pain, skin rashes, and even high risk for developing colon cancer.
