The cardiovascular system consists of the blood vessels and the heart; it is responsible for supplying oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and removing waste.  Heart diseases such as hypertension, heart attacks, congestive heart failure, coronary heart disease, and congenital heart defects are prevalent in today’s society.  Did you know that February is the American Heart Association’s Heart Health Awareness Month? So in February, The Holistic Wellness Center of Charlotte is emphasizing the importance of managing your cardiovascular health and educating patients on the dangers of  cardiovascular diseases.

In the US Cardiovascular disease is the current leading cause of death. Across the world heart diseases and strokes are the first and second leading causes of death. Fifty percent of men and 33 percent of three women will develop heart disease at some point in their life.  Although a higher percentage of men die of heart disease than women, unfortunately women tend to be under diagnosed, quite often so late that it’s past the physician’s ability to help them once the condition is discovered.

Research indicates that acupuncture and Oriental medicine programs combined with improved lifestyles can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by as much as 80%.  At Holistic Wellness Center of Charlotte areas that must be addressed with acupuncture and Oriental medicine include high blood pressure, stress relief, weight loss, sleep disorders, and lowering cholesterol.
